Robert Auger, LMFT

Director of Staff Services & Program Development

Bob’s experience includes extensive work with children, families and adults. He also enjoys working with emerging adults. “It is amazing to watch the adult emerge after years of receiving input from family, friends, community and culture. Some negotiate the process smoothly, for others it is an amazingly challenging ride.”

Bob has worked for over 16 years in outpatient settings and for 10 years in community mental health with the chronically mentally ill. Bob works with a wide variety of clients, from teaching coping mechanisms for ADHD and social and emotional skill-building for children, to working with couples who are experiencing marital conflict and stress. Some of Bob’s work with adults includes coping with anxiety, finding success in life transitions, and working through issues of loss and grief. Bob also works with men who are challenged by symptoms of sexual addiction and pornography.

To be invited into someone’s life is an amazing opportunity for change and growth.

Bob incorporates many different therapy techniques into his work with clients. Trained in systems thinking, Bob often will work with couples and families on issues where it is appropriate to do so. No matter what the issue, Bob feels that a strength-based assessment is important to help his clients to build on past successes.

Bob received his Masters of Science in Human Development, Counseling and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island in 1992 and is an Illinois Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Bob does contract work in the area of assessment for Theological School candidates and provides Member Care for missionaries for the Evangelical Covenant Church. Bob and his wife, Deb, have four children and like to spend their free time enjoying all that Chicago has to offer.
